You may recall that last year Gabbie’s winter dance show was a production of the Jewish Nutcracker. This is a show that the dance teachers put together that is a mix of the traditional Nutcracker and the Hanukkah story. This year was the second annual production. The older dancers can try out for solo parts and each of the dance classes has a part in the show. Gabbie was the Nutcracker!
There were three shows – the first one was smaller and without the younger kids. In that show, Gabbie did not play the Nutcracker but was able to dance in the ballet part that she isn’t in regularly. First, here are pictures from that performance.
The show begins with a party scene, which is lyrical style dance.
The dance called Snow is ballet.
The pointe class dances with the candles of the menorah.
And the hip hop class do an applesauce versus sour cream dance off. (Gabbie also takes jazz but she wasn’t in that class’s dance).
Gabbie was the Nutcracker in the 2nd and 3rd shows. I’m combining the pictures I took from both of the shows. I was on the right side for the first one and the left side for the second! Gabbie was in the party scene again as well.
When she comes out as the Nutcracker, she has a tap solo.
And then a fight scene with the Mouse King, played by the other senior that Gabbie dances with.
Her face revealed:
A ride in the sleigh and the end of the Snow dance:
Here is the menorah candle dance again:
And a quick change back to the Nutcracker:
The next part of the show had the younger kids’ dances with Gabbie and the dancer who played Rebecca sitting on the side and watching. I joked that it must have been very easy to keep smiling while watching because the little kids were so cute.
This is our friends’ son and Gabbie says he was waving to them!
And the finale:
If you looked back at last year’s performance there is a huge difference – no masks this year!
We had a great time seeing Gabbie perform!
