It’s time to look back on this past year with my annual post about our year in review. Here is my post for 2023! Here is my yearly wrap up with 24 things that happened in 2024.
1. In January, it snowed a lot. Gabbie was home on break and she had two friends from school visit. It snowed while they were visiting.
2. I officially joined Rover as a dog sitter and walker. My first doggie visitor didn’t go well, but I did watch a few cute dogs through Rover. I ended up putting my business on hold due to being overwhelmed with dogs! I still have plenty of business from my regulars, but I may go back to Rover eventually.
3. Zachary’s trip to Israel and Poland with school was canceled due to the situation in Israel. We continued to keep our eyes on the news the entire year.
4. Simon was diagnosed with scoliosis, but when he had his follow up xray 6 months later, he was declared all clear. Although he is the youngest, he is officially the tallest of the kids.
5. The Chiefs won the Superbowl again and we had fun celebrating, until there was a shooting at the Superbowl parade, which put a damper on things.
6. Zachary went on youth group trips to NYC and Chicago. He also went on a camping trip to see the solar eclipse. Simon also went on a few youth group trips.
7. Zachary started working at the afterschool program at the J and I started substituting at preschool occasionally.
8. Zachary finished Invisalign and we found out that Simon doesn’t need braces.
9. Gabbie turned 19 while she was at school.
10. Simon was in the Middle School play and Zachary did lights for the high school play.
11. I went on a girls’ weekend with the group I was supposed to travel to Israel with.
12. Gabbie finished her first year of college and Simon graduated from 8th grade.
13. The year took a down turn after we traveled to Israel as a family and I fell and broke my ankle. Although we still managed to have a good trip, things for me were greatly changed after that incident.
14. We celebrated Zachary turning 17 on our trip. It was a really nice celebration for him.
15. We had family come to visit in August. It was difficult since I was still wearing a boot and hobbling around.
16. Simon turned 14 and got his permit.
17. Zachary took a college English class through the community college and he did well. First semester of freshman year for Simon was pretty difficult, but he did it.
18. In September, we traveled to NJ for my nephew’s wedding. It was so nice being with the family and celebrating him!
19. Gabbie officially added math as a second major, along with journalism.
20. I continued to struggle with my weight this year.
21. Through Rover, while I still have sitting and walking dogs on hold, I did watch a few dogs just for a day at a time. That went pretty well!
22. We marked the one year anniversary of 10/7.
23. I saw the Northern Lights!
24. We spent Thanksgiving in NJ with our family there and headed to FL for winter break as well as for Hanukkah!
It was a hard year for my personally, and as always, I hope next year is better than the last.
