July is almost over so it’s time for another month in review. Some of us were home all month while others were gone a lot and now one is on the way home while another is leaving! Here’s what we’ve been up to.
Daily Life
Most of the month was spent trying to escape the heat. It even felt too hot to sit out at the pool. Simon went to the pool in the evening a few times though. Zachary only actually went in the pool once this month, at our friends’ house, instead of at the one where he works. He was there all month, until this week when we finally had some rain and the cafe closed. Gabbie has been out of the country all month but will be back tonight. Dave traveled for work and then back to NJ / NY to meet up with Gabbie and take her to visit UMass! I stayed home.
Birthdays and Holidays
We celebrated the 4th of July by going to a potluck barbecue at a friends’ house. We could see the town fireworks from there. We don’t have any birthdays this month!
Camp
Simon went to day camp for a week. He did volunteer service projects in the mornings and fun trips in the afternoons. He had a friend there from school and he met other kids too. Now he’s off on a new adventure – sleepaway camp for two weeks. He left yesterday.
Activities
There haven’t been any extra activities this month, but Gabbie will be joining the dance team at band camp starting tomorrow! Simon and I went to the farm because he wanted to relive his younger years. He fed the goats.
Travel
You can catch up with Gabbie’s travels in the two posts I’ve shared so far – week 1 and week 2 – and I plan to share her third week tomorrow.
Health / Fitness
My weight has really gotten too high, as my clothes are getting tight again. This is not good! I have been running this month even though it’s so hot.
TV
I’m currently watching The Time Traveler’s Wife. That’s my favorite book so it’s been fun spotting what didn’t happen the same way in the book! But it’s really good, I think. Sadly it’s only the one season as it wasn’t renewed.
Books
I’ve been reading about the same amount as always, just less when I have a lot of things to do! I shared the first half of my July reading here and I’ll share my favorites of the month on Friday. Of course, you can always see book reviews and more on my Instagram!

Here are my last few photos for 52 Frames – weeks 26 – 29!

Blog
In case you missed it, check out my posts about the college search, family food traditions, things I love (and don’t love) about summer, Grandma and Grandpa’s Birthday Party, Toronto Island Park, Niagara Falls from below and at night, and more about what each of the kids are up to.
Coming Up
Simon will be away until August 10. Gabbie starts school on August 12! Simon turns 12 on August 14. And the boys start school on August 23. So we still have a bit of summer left, but it’s time to get school supplies and start preparing for 7th, 10th, and 12th grades!
How was your July?
