Today I’m linking up with Leslie and Marsha for the 10 on the 10th link up (just a few days late). This month’s topic is 10 Things I Love (or hate) About Summer. I figured I’d share 10 things I love and 10 things I don’t!
1. I love that summer is more laid back and slower in the mornings. With my kids finally getting to the age where they either sleep later or hang out in their rooms later, I don’t have to worry about giving them breakfast immediately. This week, Simon is attending a day camp, but since it starts at 9, I still don’t have to rush to get him there early in the morning.
On the other hand, it is harder for me to plan my day because I never know what time the boys will want their breakfasts! We are working on getting them to prepare their own because sometimes I go out for my run and then Zachary is impatiently waiting for me when I get back!
2. It is never cold.
But it is also quite hot! Running outside is not easy.
3. I like going to the pool and reading while the kids go in the water.
I don’t like going in the water because I don’t like putting on and off my bathing suit!
4. I like that we usually take a family trip in the summer.
I don’t like that it is getting harder to plan trips with the kids being busy a lot of the time with their own things!
5. I’ve always enjoyed the tradition of celebrating July 4 with fireworks.
I don’t like that I no longer feel happy about the state of the country.
6. I enjoy eating bbq in the summer. Hamburgers and hot dogs etc.
I don’t like that it’s too hot for foods like soup!
7. I like my summer clothes. My shorts all have pockets!
I don’t like when people start talking about fall clothes too early. And the stores already have Halloween things out!
8. I like not worrying about school.
But we keep getting emails about changes at the school and at some point I need to think about school supplies and eventually I start getting worried about school again.
9. Our summer is book ended with birthdays – Zachary’s in June and Simon’s in August.
But mine is not till November! Haha.
10. Overall, I love creating new memories each summer!
What is something you love (or don’t love) about summer?
