Welcome to the Not Just a Mom Link Up hosted by myself, Adrienne, Jen, Joanne, Lauren, and Sarah! This month, we are talking about our family food traditions. Most of our family food traditions are related to holidays! So here are a few I can think of.
Starting with our weekly celebration of the Jewish sabbath – or Shabbat. We eat the traditional bread called challah, which I sometimes make myself. I shared my favorite recipe here.
On Rosh Hashanah, we eat sweet foods, including apples and honey. I like to make this chicken sheet pan dish that includes beets and sweet potatoes as well.
On Hanukkah, we eat latkes! I wrote about that here.
On Purim, we have hamentashen! They are a kind of cookie.
On Passover, we eat a lot of meat and potatoes, plus lots of matzah. I don’t think I’ve ever written a Passover food post, but maybe one day I should!
On Shavuot, we follow the tradition of eating dairy foods. I love cheesecake for dessert!
When we travel, we have some restaurants we often visit, such as my brother-in-law’s pizza place in NJ. We also love our friend’s BBQ restaurant in Surfside, FL!
You can link up your posts about your family food traditions here, and come back next month when we’re sharing about binge watching TV shows!
