It’s the end of June and we just got back from vacation. I did a bit of blogging for the days I would be away, but not as much as I should have to be up to date, so I’m working on this post after few hours of sleep, several loads of laundry, and some blog reading catch up! Here’s a look back at June.
Daily Life
Summer has arrived. Gabbie and Zachary are working at camp, and since they share a car but work different hours, I have to pick up Gabbie most of the days she is working. Early in the month I met a few dogs for upcoming visits and watched my friend’s dog for the second time.
Celebrating
We celebrated Shavuot at the beginning of the month and that feels like so long ago already. We also celebrated Zachary turning 18 by having 15 of his friends over for lunch. Then, on the day after his birthday, he wanted to go to Worlds of Fun for some more roller coaster riding.
I went on one ride – the rapids – and when our raft spun around in circles I ended up nauseous for the next half hour or so. I guess no more rides for me. Simon went on this pretty tame one:
School
I think the most relieved person about school break is probably me…followed by Simon. He is stressing out about going back to school, especially now that we got an email about the new cell phone policy. No phones are allowed, even at lunchtime, which poses a slight problem that Simon uses his to pay for lunch at the cafe. But he is more stressed about this than maybe he should be, and he is also worried about not being able to use his airpods as noise canceling headphones.
Activities
Simon went to have ice cream with the youth group kids and when we picked him up, we discovered an Elton John cover band performing in the shopping center parking lot. They were called Elton Don, which I found hilarious. I wanted to stay and listen but Simon was ready to leave.
Travel
We visited Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and New York. I have lots of pictures to edit and posts to make. Zachary was supposed to travel from our trip to Israel for a 10 day trip, which was canceled. This was his second trip in a row to be canceled due to the war. We did have a zoom call with his school for this coming year and they seemed confident things for that will go as planned.
While on our travels, I got to meet Joanne and we got to see our family who were in NJ from Israel. More to come on all of the above!
Health / Fitness
Before our trip, the boys had their well visits. This year, Zachary grew only about a half an inch, but Simon grew another 4 inches! He also gained weight and is a big guy all around now. When I look back at how much Zachary grew from the beginning of high school until the end, it scares me that Simon could still grow even more! He already looks so grown up to me.
TV
I started watching The Better Sister and liked the first episode. I need to get back to it! I also watched the first season of Pulse, which I liked a lot!
Reading
I’ve read some really good books this month which I’ll be sharing on Friday!
Coming Up
I’ll be watching lots of dogs. I’m booked almost every day in the next two months! Dave and Simon are going to Iowa for a biking thing. And I suppose I’ll have to start fighting with Simon about summer homework!
How was your June?
