The boys finally started school yesterday – I say finally because Gabbie started a full 7 school days before they did! I think they were the last school in our area to start. But we are all back to school now, so here is a look at our upcoming school year!
Gabbie
Gabbie is a senior and attends the public high school, where she is an officer on the dance team and a photo editor for the yearbook. We went to her back to school night for the first time that we were able to do so since she switched schools, and we liked her teachers – as does she! This year she is taking Dance, Yearbook, AP US Government, AP English Literature, AP Calculus BC, and French 1. She is in two periods of Yearbook because she was supposed to be in the Photojournalism class but it is only offered at the same time as her calculus class. She is taking French because although she took 10 years of Hebrew, only 1 of those years was in high school and colleges want more than 1 year of a language!
Zachary
Zachary is now in 10th grade and I am happy he decided not to switch schools. He has nice classmates and does well in a small school environment. This year he is taking Total Body Workout, History of Film, Hebrew, Jewish Studies, English, Jewish History, Honors Pre-Calculus, and Chemistry. Total Body Workout and History of Film are electives and are only one semester each.
Simon
Simon is now in 7th grade and is in his second year in middle school. He also has a good set of classmates although his best friend decided to switch to public school. This year, some of his classes are combined with 7th and 8th graders, so he will have more friends to be with in those classes. This year he is taking Science, Hebrew, Math (he did not skip 7th grade math like my other 2 did), Art, Jewish Studies – holidays, World History, English, and Jewish Studies – prayer. Art is an elective for one quarter and I believe the class on prayer is a semester class, but I’m not sure what he’ll take next semester instead!
Happy Back to School to all!
