After we left Maine, we were planning to visit Mount Washington in NH. Sadly, the weather was not great and going up the mountain may have been a waste, so we changed our plan and stayed the night in Exeter, NH. Known to me as the hometown of author John Irving, we decided to walk to the Exeter boarding school before leaving town in the morning.
Walking in the downtown area:
At the school, Zachary was reading on his phone about how they have Torahs there for the Jewish students, and we wanted to check out the chapel where they keep them. The whole thing was wide open and we were all amused by that because Torahs are quite valuable and they could have easily been stolen.
Leaving NH, we headed towards Boston, with a stop in Salem, MA. Home of the Salem Witch Trials, the town is quite touristy! First, we went to the memorial park for those killed in the trials.
Then we followed a path through the town that lead to some places that were considered worth seeing.
The book store was an add on for me! From there, it was on to Boston, with a stop in Brookline for lunch.
While we had some arguments about what we could do that everyone would agree on, we settled on taking a tour of Fenway. We have toured other baseball stadiums before (the Royals, the Padres, and the Rays), but we were interested in seeing the oldest baseball stadium!
Our tour guide was English, which was amusing, but he was interesting and we liked seeing the stadium.
Billy Joel has played here.
This is a small farm located in the stadium. Simon mentioned that the Royals also have this, just as the tour guide told us this as well.
After the tour, we walked around a bit in Boston, until my feet and back hurt and I was complaining a lot! We saw the sea lions outside of the aquarium.
Next, it was off to dinner. The only picture I took was of this pickled vegetable plate, which was pretty small but yummy.
After dinner, we had ice cream at JP Licks. Gabbie saw someone she knows from school while we were there. Simon saw this cow.
From there, we headed to our next stop in Rhode Island!
