For today’s random Friday things post I wanted to share a few updates and just a few last pictures from our most recent trip to NJ / NY.
[one]
Spotted at the Transit Museum – a fun Hanukkah card.
[two]
At Rutgers – this is outside the new Hillel building. Dave and I met through Hillel in 1997 and we donated money when they opened their new building.
[three]
Also at Rutgers – we got a tour of the Chabad house from the rabbi, who is the brother of one of my good friends here in KS!
[four]
Simon having fun with his cousin and his other cousin’s little one.
[five]
LaGuardia Airport has the best views. We took off for home at sunset.
[six]
At the Nutcracker – This is my friend’s daughter. We had them over on Friday night and she was so excited to see Gabbie again during the performance!

And now for the updates: During the last week of school before break, Simon started coughing. He took a Covid test and it was positive! (Yes, the same kid who had the flu in November got Covid in December). He’s the last one of us who hadn’t had it before (Zachary had it last January and the rest of us had it in June). There were enough days prior to our leaving to FL that he had time to recover without us having to cancel, but we were worried about whether any of us would catch it from him – especially Zachary, who had it the longest ago, although he also had a booster in May. Plus, my parents are very careful I did not think they would want us to stay with them being that it would still be pretty soon after his quarantine time ended. So we switched some things around and ended up booking an Air BnB instead of staying at my parents house. I will share more about that soon.
As for me, my back did not seem to be getting any better so finally I decided to get an MRI as well as start a dose of steroids. The medicine did seem to provide some relief. The worst time of day for me is first thing in the morning. My morning pain now is mainly in my thigh / behind my knee. When I get back from FL I’ll be working on a plan with my chiropractor as far as pain management now that I’m done with the steroids. The MRI showed a mix of arthritis, stenosis, and disc bulging.

Had to add an eighth topic due to it currently being the middle of Hanukkah! Here is a menorah picture from the 2nd night:
Have a great weekend and Merry Christmas to those who are celebrating!
