As you know, we spent winter break in Florida. As I’m sure does not surprise you, I took plenty of pictures while we were there! I was not sure how I wanted to divide up these pictures to share here on my blog, so I guess I’ll just start from the beginning. On our first day in Florida, we walked on the boardwalk at Green Cay Wetlands and checked out the birds and other wildlife. Green Cay is a preserve in Boynton Beach, FL. This is one of my favorite places to visit while we are in Florida!
There are many types of birds in the wetlands. I believe this one is an egret.
This one appears to be a little blue heron.
These red beaked birds are called common moorhens or Florida Gallinules.
There are also mottled ducks to be found.
This one is trying to blend into the marshes, but he appears to be a green heron.
This very pretty and colorful bird is a purple gallinule.
These anhungas like to stand with their wings spread in order to dry them from the water.
Well this is not a bird at all! We found an alligator!
And a second alligator just around the bend.
Finally, the Florida red bellied turtles are always hanging out on this log!
We always enjoy checking out the wildlife at Green Cay!
