Today I’m linking up with Marsha for the 10 on the 10th link up. This month’s topic is all about telephones!
1. What kind of phone did you have when you were a kid…landline or cell phone?
Cell phones were definitely not a thing when I was a kid…though one of my neighbors had a car phone! We had a landline that was fought over a lot. I had a phone in my room in high school and it was the typical phone that every 90s kid had!
These things are selling for over $100 on ebay now! Mine didn’t work all that well though as some of the buttons stuck. We also had rotary phones in my house and a portable phone with a long antennae!
2. Do you remember party lines?
I’m told my parents had these and we talked about how much harder it would be to share a phone line not just with your own family but the one downstairs!
3. What was your first cell phone?
I was in college when I first got a cell phone. This was after my car broke down on the highway and I had to climb a fence and go to someone’s house to use their phone and call for help after sitting there waiting for way too long. I think I had a small flip phone, but I don’t really remember what kind my first one was.
Here’s Gabbie playing with one of my older phones:
4. Do you still have a landline?
No, we got rid of ours awhile ago.
5. Do you screen your phone calls?
Of course! And I remember back when we had to beg our parents to get caller ID. At this point, I don’t answer calls from strange area codes. If someone calls from my local area code, it is likely it’s someone I know, because my spam calls are mainly NJ area codes, since that’s where my number is from. I’ve had the same number for over 13 years!
6. What is the longest amount of time you’ve spend on the phone?
When I was a teenager I’m sure I spent hours on the phone. At this point in my life, I rarely talk on the phone, aside for with my parents. We normally don’t talk much more than 20 minutes at a time.
7. What is your current phone?
I have an iPhone 14 pro.
8. Do you use your smartphone only as a phone?
I mainly use it as everything besides a phone.
9. When you were a kid, did you play “telephone”?
Yes, and I often say that most of our current family conversations feel like a game of telephone.
10. Does your significant other have a specific ringtone?
No, and I don’t even know what ringtone I have set in general because my phone is always on silent!
What do you think about any of these?
