I had no posts planned this week and then I realized that I forgot all about the Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce, so here it is!
1. We’re in to a season students call ‘spring break’. Did you/your family travel over spring breaks when you were growing up? Tell us something about a ‘spring break’ you remember (from childhood or adulthood, either one).
Gabbie has spring break next week, but my boys have spring break over the Passover holiday, so it’s not for a few more weeks! Growing up, our spring break did often align with Passover. We didn’t often travel for spring break, though I do remember going to Disney World for two of them! I also did spring break in Disney once when I was in college.
2. Last thing you broke? Was it a big deal?
I’m sure I’ve broken things recently but I can’t think of any, which must mean they weren’t big deals!
3. March 7th is National Cereal Day…are you a fan? What’s your favorite? If not cereal what’s your favorite breakfast? Your typical breakfast?
Growing up and into adulthood I did stick with cereal for breakfast, but I found that I’d have a sugar drop mid morning and end up shaky and hungry. So at some point I switched to having eggs for breakfast.
4. Break ground, break of dawn, break down, break the bank, break one’s stride, break the ice, break a law, break a habit, break bread…choose one of the idioms listed and tell us how it applies to your life currently.
All the small toys hiding out in my living room might give me a break down…I mentioned before that we’re going to have a redo of our living room (breaking ground in a week…) so I have to clean everything out. We have some bins and such that I’ve been going through and there are so many random toys and items that it gets overwhelming! Mostly Legos. Sooo many Legos.
5. Where do you go to connect with friends and family? What do you like to do most when you’re home alone?
It’s funny to me, but I go to synagogue to connect with friends. It’s probably not a good reason to go, but the social aspect is what I like about going. I love being home alone…but I do what I always do, which is read!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
It looks like I’ll get a day alone on Monday – since it’s Gabbie’s spring break, we arranged for her to visit Wash U in St. Louis, and then I discovered that the boys are off that day too, so they are both deciding if they will also go for the ride and visit. We have one of our former foster dogs coming as a new dog sitting visitor so I have to be here for her arrival and to take care of her, but I’m happy about it!
Tell me your answer to any of these!
