Welcome to the Not Just a Mom Link Up hosted by myself, Adrienne, Jen, Joanne, Lauren, and Sarah! This month, we are sharing a day in the life, but this time, a day that happened on the weekend. I am sharing last Saturday night-Sunday night.
Zachary was away for a youth group weekend (the second weekend in a row!) so he was not around for this day in our life. On Saturday night, Gabbie had a dance competition. The competition was all day on Saturday, but some of our dancers (including ourselves) don’t drive or perform on the Jewish sabbath, so our dances were scheduled after the end of the sabbath day. So we were out the door to watch her dance by 7 PM.
Gabbie performed her solo and three group dances. She was recognized as a senior and represented one of her groups for their 5th place finish. She is also in the group that got the first place finish in the same category. The large group also got a first place finish as well as a choreography award, for which all the dancers accepted the award.
After the competition, we went to get ice cream and one of Simon’s friend came with us. His sister dances with Gabbie so he was also at the competition. He and Simon had a fun time being silly together.
On to Sunday morning! Of course, my day started off with coffee.
I updated my book journal with a recently finished book and I did laundry.
This big headed guy was watching me get some reading done.
I folded my first load of laundry while talking to my parents on the phone.
I played some catch with Bumi after the laundry was folded and while we were still on the phone. The ball I was throwing to him disappeared but he didn’t want the one right behind him!
I went to warm up my second cup of coffee and I spilled some on the floor. I made breakfast.
Gabbie came to say hi to Bumi, who was still watching me read.
Simon had bar mitzvah class in the morning and at some point I made him his lunch. Gabbie went to dance. I had lunch.
Dave, Simon, and I went to the floor store to look at flooring options for our living room model. We had a fun time, especially Simon, who thought this mallet was quite funny.
We also stopped at Walmart for some groceries including things we needed to add to our Purim gift bags.
Next we went to a brewery were Dave drank beer and Simon drank soda.
We walked over to an ice cream store on the same street, but it was closed. On the way we passed this lock heart and selfie station so we took pictures.
Back home, Simon worked on packing up our Purim bags while Dave went to the store and I got Bumi’s things ready to go home.
I also had a snack – it’s less than it looks because the plate is small!
Then we had dinner – a Beyond burger with cheese and Brussel sprouts and yes I put too much mustard on my Brussel sprouts.
Finally, we went to the synagogue to put together the Purim gift bags that the synagogue gives out – this has been a program I’ve organized for many years now. Two of Simon’s friends came with us to help and it went quickly!
I ended my day by watching an episode of the show Alert and listening to an audio book. Simon went to bed, but Gabbie and Dave headed to the airport to pick up Zachary and a few others from the youth group trip!

This was a busy Sunday for me, but I felt like I got a lot done!
