In my last post about our trip, I covered from when we left home through almost a week later – most of that time spent traveling, and then celebrating the beginning of Passover. That brings me up to Sunday, April 5. We had decided to leave my sister-in-law’s house and rent a place to stay in Jerusalem, because since there weren’t a lot of tourists able to visit at the time, we were able to get a great price! We loved staying in this very central location, close to Zachary’s dorm so he could go back when he needed things. So that day we moved into our new place.
For lunch, we had Passover sandwiches with fake bread.

Our nephew wanted us to meet him and his family at a petting farm that belongs to someone in his wife’s family, so we headed there to meet them. We found them hanging out with all types of fun animals, including baby goats!

We walked around the grounds there and took photos and saw the horses.

Then we realized that we were really close to a hike we had been thinking about doing and thought it would be a great opportunity to do so! We stopped at a gas station for water bottles and set out to hike Nahal Og.

Zachary had actually done the hike previously so he knew what to expect. First you descend into the canyon and then you start hiking your way back out!

Along the way, you scale ladders that are built into the rock.

While waiting for our turn at one point, we were talking to some other English speakers and said we were from Kansas. From across the way came a teenager asking us if we knew someone who had lived in Kansas in the past, coming from Israel to teach at the school. Of course we knew him!

The beginning and end of the hike overlooks the Dead Sea. Afterwards, we rewarded ourself with iced treats. Don’t ask me what my face is doing!

We headed back to Jerusalem and we had dinner at the Waldorf, where we stayed last time with Hilton points. We were going to stay there this time when we were supposed to be there in March, but it didn’t work out when we were actually there. We had a gift card to use though, so we had dinner, which was really good for Passover food!
I was going to continue here with Monday, but this is pretty long already, so I think I’ll start there next time!
