Our summer trip this year was to New England, as the kids wanted to visit some of the states they haven’t been to yet. Dave and I went to Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island when I was pregnant with Gabbie, so none of the kids had been to those three states before. We flew to Portland, ME, and stayed in Freeport. On our first day there, we drove to Acadia National Park.
We started off in Bar Harbor and walked around the town a bit.
Then we headed into the park for our timed entry at Cadillac Mountain.
We also ate a picnic lunch while we were up there. Then we drove around the park to see more of it.
It was cool that there was a beach area within the park. It was pretty chilly though!
Next we went to a place where the ocean is supposed to sound like thunder.
Gabbie fell in love with the lupine flowers!
We drove back to Freeport, and that night we checked out LL Bean. The last time I was there, I don’t remember it being such a huge complex! There were multiple buildings with different types of products in each. We checked out the duffel bags because I’ve heard they are great for international gap year students, but they were quite expensive!
Overall, we had a fun first day in Maine!
