I’m back with my 50 States Wrapped series and today’s post will cover Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, and Georgia! Everyone seemed to like that I included books taking place in each state, so I will do my best to continue that as well. If you missed part 1 to this series, you can check out last week’s post about Alabama-California!
Colorado
Having moved to the midwest in 2009, Colorado was one of the first states we visited in 2010, when I was pregnant with Simon and using a wheelchair after breaking my ankle! We visited the Rockies, Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs, and Denver. Here is a post about that trip.

In 2018, we went on another road trip to Yellowstone, and on the way back we visited friends in CO. We stopped at Dinosaur National Monument as well.
We were also in CO when we went to Four Corners – at least in that corner of the state!

Connecticut
Growing up in NJ meant that I was quite close to Connecticut, and maybe drove through it and didn’t really do much there. However, I definitely spent time there when I was a camp counselor and we traveled to Mystic Seaport. Dave says we also went to Mystic after we were married, and I met up with a friend who was staying in Hartford at some point. I will be back in CT this month on my way to bring Gabbie to college!

Delaware
Delaware is another drive through state! It was always a fast pass through on the way to DC or MD! I do remember as a kid we went on the Lewes – Cape May Ferry, which you board in Lewes, Delaware. I also think I went on a field trip to somewhere in the state. Most recently, we were in DE last November, when we visited the University of DE!

Florida
Ah, Florida. Florida is most likely the state I’ve visited the most times that I haven’t lived in or next to! My parents always enjoyed taking vacations there, and we stayed by the beach in the West Palm and Ft. Lauderdale areas. We went along on my father’s business trip to Tampa and visited Clearwater – and then I did the same when Gabbie was young, and we have also gone with Dave when he has visited Tampa for work. My parents also took us to Disney World and I’ve of course been back there with the kids, and now we go to Florida every winter break to see my parents, who live there now, and Dave’s, who are usually there in the winter.
I have a post about Gabbie’s first trip to Florida when she was a baby!

You may recall we recreated this picture on our most recent trip!

Georgia
My brother moved to Atlanta, GA and I’m not sure but I think my first time in the state was when we went to his wedding in 2012. We have spent time in Atlanta on a few different trips, visiting the Coca Cola Museum, the Aquarium, the MLK Historical Site, the Delta museum, and a scavenger hunt around the downtown area.

We also got to stay in Lake Oconee when we snuck onto Dave’s work trip. And we have driven through GA on those trips that we drove to FL. I believe we last did this in 2019.
