Back in May, for Dave’s birthday I stole an idea from Natasha’s husband (also named Dave) and told you all about Dave with bits of trivia arranged using Trivial Pursuit categories. Since today is my birthday, I thought I would do a similar post for myself. If you’ve been here for awhile you may know most of this trivia already, but I hope you enjoy reading the post anyway.
Geography
1. I was born and raised in New Jersey, moving with my family once when I was 7.
2. This month is our 13th anniversary of moving to Kansas.
3. I still need to visit one more state to make it to all 50 – Oregon.
4. At the beginning of 2020, I said I’d like to travel abroad more often in the next decade. That hasn’t gone so well so far, although we did go to Canada this year.
5. A country I would love to visit is Iceland.
6. Our next trips will take us to NJ and to FL as is our custom in visiting our families over Thanksgiving / winter break.
7. One of the first states I visited as a kid was AZ because my grandmother lived there.
Entertainment
8. My most often source of entertainment is reading.
9. When it comes to music, I tend to prefer the music my parents listened to when I was young.
10. My satellite radio is set to alert me for my favorite artists’ songs – Billy Joel, Elton John, Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon, and Chicago.
11. I loved seeing Elton John live this year. I would love to see Billy Joel again!
12. The first concert I saw was with my parents and brother – Debbie Gibson.
13. We got last minute tickets to a Billy Joel cover band last week which was entertaining.
14. The TV shows I watch that are on currently are all medical shows.
15. I play Candy Crush and Cross Stitch World on my phone.
History
16. I grew up in a small town with the same kids attending school with me from kindergarten-12th grade.
17. I was active in my youth group in high school and that’s where I met most of my close high school friends.
18. I turned 18 in a presidential election year but I was 5 days too young to vote.
19. I grew up with one younger brother. We have three first cousins who we didn’t see all that often.
20. In college I studied Communication and Jewish Studies. I then went to grad school for social work.
21. The last time I had a full time job was over 15 years ago.
22. I met Dave when I was 18 and we got married when I was 22. And it is almost our 22nd anniversary which means we’ve been married for almost half of my life.
Arts and Literature
23. I’m obviously into literature, or at least books – if they are too literary I may not like them!
24. My favorite genre to read is contemporary fiction. I also like rom coms and thrillers and sometimes historical fiction.
25. This month I’m trying to read more non-fiction for Non-Fiction November.
26. Yes, I read a lot. It can be embarrassing, especially when people ask me if I also take care of my kids.
27. My favorite type of art to see is modern art.
28. I wouldn’t say I’m artistic, but I can be creative at times.
29. My main artistic endeavors are knitting and photography.
Science and Nature
30. Science was hard for me in school. My favorite was chemistry because I liked my teacher.
31. I do love nature and enjoy hiking, wildlife, waterfalls, rainbows, and sunsets.
32. I love dogs and my phone camera roll is full of pictures of the dogs I walk at the shelter.
33. I’m allergic to cats but had a great time cuddling cats at the cat cafe that Simon and I visited this week – post to follow!
34. I like going to zoos and aquariums even though I know that I should not approve of animals being in captivity.
35. My favorite animals to see at our local zoo are the ones in the rain forest section.
Sports and Leisure
36. My main form of exercise is jogging slowly.
37. It’s been 10 years since Dave and I ran a half marathon.
38. I enjoy cheering for local sports teams, especially the Chiefs.
39. My dad taught me to understand football and I’m thankful for that every football season.
40. Gabbie did not get her dancing skills from me!
Four More Facts
41. For my birthday, I already got my main gift which was my new iPhone.
42. I will be getting my free Starbucks drink today.
43. I used to feel young compared to my friends but now I feel old and my kids are older than most of my friends’ kids – or at least they also have kids younger than mine too.
44. My birthday wish would be that the air travel prices go down for Gabbie’s spring break so that we can go to Disney World!
