Happy Wednesday! Today I’m joining in for the Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce.
1. Let’s do our gratitude question first this week…what’s the best thing about your home, and have you taken time to enjoy it lately?
I love my living room, which we redid a few years ago, changing the wood panels to regular white walls, and painting the brown bookshelves white. I admire my bookshelves often, and as they are always filling up, I plot ways to rearrange them so things will fit!
2. Do you like squash? Of the varieties listed, which one’s your favorite and how do you like it prepared? Is squash of some sort on your Thanksgiving menu??
acorn, butternut, delicata, spaghetti, zucchini, crookneck (yellow squash), patty pan
I don’t love it, but I like zucchini sometimes. I like butternut squash soup. I don’t think we have squash on our Thanksgiving menu – I can’t remember if we do! I think we just have sweet potatoes.
3. Last time you were ‘squashed in’ somewhere, or felt squashed?
I hate feeling squashed! I don’t remember the last time that happened.
4. Have you ever played squash? What about other ‘racquet sports’ such as racquetball, tennis, pickleball, badminton, table tennis (ping pong)? Are these sports something you enjoy?
I’ve not played squash but I’ve tried pickleball. I played tennis in high school even though I wasn’t very good at it. We had a ping pong table growing up, so I played that occasionally! My dad likes all the racquet sports, though I don’t think he’s played squash! He doesn’t play badminton either. And rather than racquetball, he played paddleball!
5. Something in today’s society or culture that feels like a ‘racket’ to you? If you don’t like that one, tell us about a place you’ve been recently where there was a lot of ‘racket’.
Certain “influencers” who are obviously being paid to change their entire platforms to support certain politically inclined messages…
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Lately I’m having thoughts about the future. In 2.5 years, Simon graduates high school. And then I’ll be a stay at home mom with no kids at home! It already seems strange being a stay at home mom with only one kid at home who is in school most of the time…if anyone has gone through this, feel free to share!
Tell me your answer to any of these!
