Mount Solmar is also known as the Cabo dog hike! If you love dogs and enjoy hiking, you will be like me and really want to do this hike. Mount Solmar is located within the property of a man named Enrique, and he leads guided hikes up the mountain 6 days a week at 8 AM. Since he also runs a dog training facility, he brings a group of dogs along on the hike too! The hike is not easy and involves a bit of rock climbing. But the dogs can do it! And so did I.
These dogs were in the yard area before we began the hike, but they didn’t climb with us!
For the beginning of the hike, I was able to have my camera out and to snap some photos of the view around us. The mountain is on the peninsula, so you can see much of the surrounding area.
Eventually we had to climb up some pretty steep rocky areas, so I put my camera away.
The top of the mountain didn’t feature a flat area to hang out on – there was still a lot of rocks to get around to see the views. But that’s where we got to see the dogs who had made it up way ahead of us!
The path back down was just as difficult with sliding rocks. We saw a woman take quite a tumble, but she was okay, thank goodness! My legs felt like jello by the time we got back to the bottom.
While this hike is free, there are tip boxes to leave appreciation for Enrique!
This was such a fun experience, and a personal milestone for me, being able to hike after my broken ankle!
