It’s the end of December, so it’s time to take a look back at this month in review. We started out the month in NJ and will be finishing it in FL! Although I know most people will not be visiting blogs today due to Christmas, I still wanted to wrap up my month here, and hopefully I’ll be sharing a Year In Review post next week. Here’s a look back at December.
Daily Life
Outside of traveling, daily life this month was pretty normal. Of course there were only two full weeks of school until finals started! I didn’t substitute this month – I was asked one day but it was a day I had appointments so I couldn’t do it.
School
Phew…winter break is a needed break from school! Simon worked hard this month bringing up his grades and keeping up with work. He also seemed to stick to his study schedule and he made it through finals. Math seems to be a struggle and he exempted his final in that class, but now he has to work hard on it second semester.
Zachary still hasn’t finished his gap year application but he plans to do it during break. He got into the school he has been wanting to go to, but lately he’s been talking about another one that he also applied to, so I guess we’re still waiting on that one!
Activities
The boys seemed to have less activities this month as things were winding down for the year, I suppose. We did have a few pre Hanukkah events which I talked about here. Since we’re away for all of Hanukkah, we’re missing a few other local events.
I was sad last year when one of the youth groups had a mother/daughter event and I didn’t have a daughter available to attend it with. This year, I attended with one of the boys’ friends – she seems to have a difficult relationship with her own mom, so I was her substitute mom for that event. We had a good time. I also went to an author event with one of Gabbie’s friends!
Health / Fitness
Zachary has the exact same cold / cough as he did last year at the same time. It just keeps going! We went to the minute clinic and it’s just a cough, so they prescribed some medicine that doesn’t really help. He just has to wait for it to pass.
I went to the gym a few times but I’m not doing it consistently…however starting in January Zachary is going to take a college class at the community college on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, so I’ll be driving Simon to school. Since the gym is in the same building as the school, I can make it a routine to go when I drop him off.
I also started another attempt at a diet. I am eating every few hours but only a small amount, and then I eat a normal dinner. It’s not working. Apparently it’s normal to gain 2-3 pounds a year. Sadly I gain that much every few months.
TV
All of my shows ended for their breaks and I watched all the Doctor Odyssey episodes, plus another show I started called High Potential which I like a lot. I may need another show before my regular ones are back!
Reading
I did a bunch of backlist reading this month. I shared the first half of my month of reading here and I’ll be sharing my 5 star reads so far this month on Friday.
Coming Up
Hanukkah begins tonight and we’re in Florida, so stay tuned for blog posts about that!
How was your December?
