It’s the end of November, so it’s time to take a look back at this month in review. It was another super quick month! We’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend, so recaps of that will be shared later! Here’s a look back at November.
Daily Life
Life was back to normal after the holidays, and I took care of dogs, substituted at preschool, and went to a few meetings, but didn’t do much else!
School
The kids were off for conferences and then for Thanksgiving. Sometimes it seems like they are out of school more often than they are there! Simon’s teacher conferences were as bad as I expected. His English teacher was supportive while his science teacher was not. The only class he’s doing well in is Talmud. We came up with a plan where every Sunday we look at his grades and if he has a C or below, he contacts his teacher to make sure he isn’t missing any assignments. And if he is, he has to do them. My next struggle will be getting him prepared for finals. The learning specialist said she would meet with him, but I’m pretty sure she didn’t yet!
Zachary is still doing pretty well, although he said when he took a calculus test, he didn’t remember anything. That doesn’t bode well for the AP test in the spring! He has been accepted into both of his safety schools (one he only applied to because there was no application fee) and we’re waiting on the rest. He also has to finish his gap year application!
Not sure if I mentioned that Gabbie is now double majoring in Journalism and Math. She registered for spring semester classes too.
Activities
The boys keep busy with youth group events as usual. They went to their fall weekend away this past weekend. Although it happened once before, I’m not used to them attending the same weekends away, but now that they are both in high school so it will happen more than not!
Simon had theater try outs this week and will be in the high school play in May. I don’t know what play they are doing but I have it in my calendar!
Health / Fitness
I have been to the gym a few times this month. I have three options for dealing with my weight – go on an extreme diet like I did in 2019 (I’ve gained it all back since then), give up and do nothing, or just keep struggling and slowly gaining weight.
TV
I’ve been watching my regular favorites, plus I started the new season of The Lioness and I decided to check out Doctor Odyssey, which seems pretty fun. You know you watch too many medical shows when two of them (Chicago Fire and 9-1-1) each have the same type of medical emergency in the same week!
Reading
I did a lot of non fiction reading this month and while I’ve read a lot of books, I haven’t had many 5 star books! I’ll be sharing the ones I’ve read on Friday, and the first half of my month can be seen here.
Coming Up
Thanksgiving is still to come, and then we have to get planning our winter break trip.
How was your November?
