Sorry for the lack of posts this week so far. I was unmotivated to come up with things to share! Today I’m joining in for Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce.
1. What’s something bizarre you’ve seen or heard recently?
Bizarre? I’m not really sure if this counts as bizarre, but a box I ordered for Simon’s bar mitzvah was mis-addressed by the company – it apparently auto filled the address to one with our same house number but a different street. At first, and this would have been bizarre, we thought the box was delivered to a field! It was actually a townhouse, and I left a note at their door. They still had the package and were kind enough to drop it off for us. Phew.
2. July 18th is National Sour Candy Day. Who knew? Do you like sour candies or other foods with ‘sour’ flavors? Kimchi, rhubarb, gooseberries, tamarind, dill pickles, sour cherries, sauerkraut, cranberries, and grapefruit…of the sour foods listed which is your favorite?
I do like sour candy, especially the Scandinavian Swimmers from Trader Joe’s. I love sour pickles so that has to be my favorite of those listed!
3. Share a favorite memory of an aunt or uncle.
Both of my parents have one brother each, plus my dad’s father had two brothers. My mom’s mother had a sister and her husband was another uncle. I mainly remember all 5 of these men teasing me and not necessarily making me happy with their teasing! The aunt and uncle that I have seen most recently are my mom’s brother and his wife, my aunt. We saw them when we went to Las Vegas in 2019, since they live there. We had a nice time.
4. How would you describe your ability to manage stress?
If I’m stressed about something (like the situation I talked about in question 1!) I can’t concentrate on much else! I think I feel stressed easily. When I’m stressed I kind of moan a lot. And I try to remember that things usually work themselves out.
5. What do you think about when you let your mind wander?
Usually whatever I need to take care of in the next days or weeks.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
We had a huge storm blow through on Friday. It was strange because it didn’t seem all that bad when it was happening, but power was out in a lot of houses nearby (ours flickered but didn’t stay off long) and a lot of trees came down, including a big one in our neighborhood. Our house was lucky as both of our neighbors had their fences effected! Because a friend of ours had their power out, their dog came to stay with us on Saturday. We already were watching another friends’ dog and we were nervous to have two together, but they did pretty well in the end!
Tell me your answer to any of these!
