OK, yesterday evening we discussed siblings. What about your extended family? Did you grow up with many aunt, uncles, and cousins? Do your children have many cousins? Do you see your extended family often? What do you like to do with them?
My mom and dad each have one brother. My mom’s brother has two sons and my dad’s brother has one daughter. What this means is that I only have 3 first cousins. Dave’s mom is an only child and his dad had 3 brothers, but only one of them had children – two girls – so he grew up with 2 first cousins. This same uncle adopted a child after Dave already was an adult, so he now has another first cousin who is much younger than him. My kids are lucky enough to have 9 first cousins. Most of their cousins are older than them – the youngest being Gabbie’s age. My kids also have a few second cousins – Dave’s cousins’ kids – who are a little closer to their ages. Unfortunately, we don’t see them all that often. Gabbie loves to talk to our extended family on Face Time which I find very cute!
