One month before his bar mitzvah, Zachary put on tefillin for the first time. What are tefillin? Tefillin is a set of small black leather boxes containing scrolls of parchment inscribed with verses from the Torah. Tefillin is worn by observant adult Jews during weekday morning prayers.

Instead, Dave planned that we would go for a hike and he chose the Cave Spring location. The kids and I had actually be there in the past, but it had been awhile (5 years) and it’s an interesting place to visit.
