It’s time for my look back at 2025 in reading, books read, and favorite books! When you read as much as I do, it is hard to narrow down favorites, so I always start with a complete list of the books I loved and continue on from there.

This year I read 275 books. This is one more book total than I read in 2024, and it’s a nice number!
I read the most in March, with 30 books.
I read the least in August, with 20 books. (August was my least read month in 2024 too).

My highest read genre, as usual, was contemporary fiction.
My next most read genres were rom coms, historical fiction, thrillers, and non-fiction. Historical fiction moved up above thrillers this year.
I read 78% of my books in print and 22% on audio. (Exactly the same as last year!)
My average days per book is 3.3.
My fiction vs non-fiction ratio was 90% fiction and 10% non-fiction.

I read way less YA and Middle Grade books this year. Approximately 80% of my books were adult books while 11% were middle grade and 8% were YA.
My books by authors of color were 15% of my total reads. My Jewish author percentage was 20%.
My highest percentage of books receive a 4 star rating.
I had 84 5 star books this year.
I didn’t quite complete my list of books that I acquired in 2021.
I did not finish a total of 6 books.
My shortest book was House of Light by Mary Oliver and my longest was The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo.
These are the books that I labeled my top books each month:
January – Pictures of You by Emma Grey
February – Eddie Winston Is Looking For Love by Marianne Cronin
March – Battle of the Bookstores by Ali Brady / We Are Watching by Alison Gaylin / Summer in the City by Alex Aster / Deep End by Ali Hazelwood
April – Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez
May – The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits by Jennifer Weiner / My Friends by Fredrik Backman
June – Sandwich by Catherine Newman / More or Less Maddy by Lisa Genova
July – Problematic Summer Romance by Ali Hazelwood / One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune
August – June In The Garden by Eleanor Wilde / Everything Is Probably Fine by Julia London / Good Grief by Sara Goodman Confino
September – The Correspondent by Virginia Evans
October – It’s Different This Time by Joss Richard
November – The Tortoise’s Tale by Kendra Coulter / The Women of Wild Hill by Kirsten Miller
December – I Made It Out of Clay by Beth Kander
I couldn’t make a top 12 list this year and had to make it a top 14, plus honorable mentions:

Plus, I had 9 authors whose multiple books I read this year each received 5 stars, so these are favorites as well:

I also have lists of favorites from each genre which I’ll be sharing on my Instagram over the next few days!
What favorite books did you read this year?
