Hi everyone. Sorry for the lack of posts this week so far! I have a thing about certain types of posts being on certain days so I haven’t posted about my trip yet, but I will start to do that tomorrow! Today, I’m joining in for the Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce.
1. Many of our earliest presidents created words or expressions widely used today. Teddy Roosevelt is credited with mollycoddle, pack rat, frazzle, and loose cannon…which of those words/phrases currently relates to your life in some way?
That is funny that presidents have created words…I guess my life is kind of frazzled on the regular!
2. Have you visited many (or any) of the US Presidents homes, monuments, libraries or related sites? If so what’s been your favorite? Are there any you particularly want to see? Here’s a link to presidential sites listed by state which is kind of fun to read-Presidential Places by State. And since several bloggers who participate in the HP each week live outside the US, here’s a link to Presidential Places Outside the US. Have you seen any of those?
I have been to the Truman home and library, which are pretty local to us.
We’ve also been to Lincoln’s home in Springfield, IL.
I would definitely like to see more of these since they can be pretty interesting!
For monuments, I’ve been to most of the ones in D.C. One of my favorites is FDR’s, because it also features his dog!
3. February 20th is National Cherry Pie Day…will you celebrate? Given your choice of cherry pie, cherry cobbler, cheesecake with a cherry topping, or black forest cake which would you choose?
No, I don’t think I’ll celebrate. I don’t love cherry pie, although I’ll eat it if it’s served to me! I’d probably choose cheesecake with a cherry topping with those choices!
4. Last time you worked a puzzle of some kind? Something that had you puzzled recently?
I really like puzzles, and every day I do the NY Times mini crossword, Strands, and Connections, which are word puzzles. I have been working on the website for the shelter where I volunteer. I feel like I enjoy it because it’s like a puzzle, and once it works correctly, I feel a sense of accomplishment!
5. Of the early blooming flowers (January-early March depending on your zone) which one’s your favorite?
snowdrops, lenten roses, pansies, violets, snapdragons, reticulated iris, crocus, winter jasmine
Do you have any of these in your own yard/garden?
I like pansies and irises and crocuses. It’s fun to see little buds popping up in the spring. I don’t think I have any of these in my yard though.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
What am I letting go of this week? I guess being “behind” on reading due to being busy with other things – like the shelter website!
Tell me your answer to any of these!
