As any parent knows, your phone can get filled with photos of your family pretty quickly. Rather than the pictures sitting there, doing nothing but eating up storage, you could do something with them. Here are some ideas to do with that enormous photo collection on your phone.
Gallery wall
Adding a gallery wall feature can be a great addition to your home. Adding a gallery wall of your own photos is even better. There is an abundance of apps that allow you to print directly from your phone and they deliver the prints to you. Alternatively, you can head to the store and use their photo stall to print them, or buy your own mini printer.
Create scrapbooks
If you are a crafty type of person, you might consider using your photos in scrapbooks. Mixing the pictures with different elements and in a theme can be a great way to display and store your memories. You can mix them with other little bits of memorabilia to tell a story of an unforgettable day or holiday.
Create memory books for your family
Umm … is a memory book not the same thing as a scrapbook? Yes and no. A scrapbook is generally made by a person about a time in their life. A memory book is made for a person. This can be a great gift for grandparents at Christmas time, and you can even make them online and print multiple copies. This means all the grandparents get the same thing.
Have a clear out
If you scroll through your camera roll and discover hundreds of photos which look identical, there is a good chance that you kids have been playing with it again. But, even without the kids’ help, we are all guilty of hoarding similar pictures. Clearing out those extra shots will help clear your mind and free up some storage space. Remember, you don’t need to keep every photo, it’s ok to delete some.
Fill a photo album
Do you have a bunch of old albums sitting about? Wouldn’t it be better to use them? If you have been printing your photos off for your gallery wall, you might end up with more than you need. Rather than throwing them out, pop them in a photo album. You could get albums with memo sections to make small notes about when and where the photos were taken.
Order some canvas
Wall art is so cheap to buy now, you can easily buy a canvas with your favourite photo on it and have it delivered to your front door. This means displaying those group family photos where the kids are all smiling is the easiest it has ever been. You could even gift your favourite photos to family members, or do a canvas picture trade with them.
As much as we love our photos, we need to stop hoarding them and start displaying them. You will be surprised how having them available to look around your home can bring you joy.
