It’s a new year and a new 10 on the 10th linkup has been announced by Jen at The Bolin Bunch! She has come up with some great ideas for monthly themes, but just like last year, the first theme is “10 Random Facts About Me.” And just like my post last year, I have to warn you that it is hard for me to come up with 10 new facts! I mean, I just wrote a list of 40 things I learned about myself along the way, how can I top that? Well, I’ll try.
[one]
I was named after my maternal grandfather. My parents were looking for a “D” name because my grandfather’s nickname was Doc. My dad found the name Dara in a name book he was looking at while my mother tried on maternity clothes.
[two]
I’m an introvert and I enjoy being alone or one on one with someone. It is harder for me to talk in a group setting.
[three]
If I didn’t need sleep, I would spend more time reading. I obviously already read a lot, but I could learn more about everything if I had more time!
[four]
I’ve never been athletic. I played tennis for a bit in high school but I wasn’t very good at it. I did karate for awhile as an adult too.
[five]
I would love to visit the fictional world of Harry Potter. I would also like to visit the locations in London and Harry Potter World at Universal!
[six]
I grew up with a miniature schnauzer and had a Scottish Terrier as an adult. I love dogs, but now I don’t want a dog because they aren’t easy to care for especially when we travel. On the other hand, I would love to have a dog!
[seven]
It sometimes amazes me how many songs I can sing along with by heart. Why do our brains store so much useless information?
[eight]
I always read actual print books. I don’t like e-books or listening to audio books.
[nine]
Although I’ve been to 47 states, in my opinion, I haven’t been to that many countries. I have been to: Canada, Mexico, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, St. Thomas, Aruba, Martinique, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grand Cayman, Cuba, and a very brief plane stop in Spain where we did leave the airport and walk around.

Every year, the first week theme of the 52 Frames project is a self-portrait. I took a picture of myself at sunrise at the beach and overlayed it with a picture of the ocean and ended up with this:
So, have you learned anything new about me? Do we share any of these things in common?
