I have always been interested in the concept of love languages and this month’s “I’ll Show You My…” Collaboration focuses on that topic. Today we are sharing our Love Languages with you and I’d love for you to let me know what your love language is as well!
The 5 Love Languages is a book by Gary Chapman in which he explains how various people show and feel love and how you can use this knowledge to connect to others. The five love languages are: Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. You can take an assessment on the website to find out what your love language is.
I had some idea of what my love language would be because I have taken this quiz in the past, but I was surprised that I scored higher on Acts of Service than on Receiving Gifts. Both are things that make me feel loved.
“Acts of Service: Can vacuuming the floors really be an expression of love? Absolutely! Anything you do to ease the burden of responsibilities weighing on an ‘Acts of Service’ person will speak volumes. The words he or she most want to hear: ‘Let me do that for you.’ Laziness, broken commitments, and making more work for them tell speakers of this language their feelings don’t matter. Finding ways to serve speaks volumes to the recipient of these acts.”
My love languages, in order, were Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. It would be interesting to see which one applies the most to my husband! You can also take the quiz for or with your kids. I am pretty sure my kids would fall between Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, and Words of Affirmation! And they also love hugs! All the languages are important and I found some interesting images via Pinterest to explain even more.

I thought today would be a good day to share this love inspired button canvas that I made.
I found the supplies in my office when I was cleaning things up and I used hot glue to attach the buttons to the canvas. Here is the finished version:
Now, I should find someone whose love language is Receiving Gifts and send it to them!
