Yesterday we discussed the schools your family attended; today let’s discuss the careers that schooling led to! What kind of jobs have you and your family members done in their lives? Do you know about your grandparents’ careers? Do you have any family businesses in your family?
My father’s father was an accountant. My mother’s father managed a store. My father-in-law was an accountant as well, before he retired, and my mother-in-law was a teacher before she retired. My parents are also recently retired. My mom worked many years as a systems engineer and then was an administrator for a summer program at a college. My father worked at a hospital. He began as a pharmacist, then he worked in emergency management, and finally he worked in computer security. As I told you the other day, my brother is a meteorologist. I have a degree in social work and currently I stay home with my children. My husband is a financial analyst. So while we don’t have any family businesses, I’d say a common thread on both sides of the family is finance!
