As you know, my family loves adventures. We also like visiting local places in and around Kansas City. If someone tells me they are traveling to Kansas City and asks me where they should visit, here are the places I normally recommend:
1. Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead
When we first moved to Kansas, the farm was free to visit. Now it costs $2 per person on weekends and on weekdays between 9 AM and 2 PM. You can still visit for free after 2 PM from Monday-Thursday. The farm opens for the season next week (it is open April-October) and we can’t wait to visit!
We used to be zoo members and we would visit all the time. Now, it’s been awhile since we’ve been and I really want to go! There is a new baby giraffe and soon there will be a stingray exhibit!
Our iconic shopping area in Kansas City, MO, the Plaza is a Spanish inspired shopping district with many fountains and statues.
4. Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
Home of the famous huge shuttlecocks, a glass maze, and art from around the world, this art museum is free to visit!
5. Prairie Fire
This relatively new shopping area is the home of the Museum at Prairie Fire, a movie theater, a bowling alley, stores, restaurants, and more!
